Claims regarding the mold constants
editIn the article the statement has been made "The constant n is 2 for insulating molds and 1 for conducting molds". The difference between an insulating material and a conductive material (referring to thermal properties) is a relative state. The second law of thermodynamics concerns the direction of heat flow. In simple terms heat can only flow from hot to cold and not vice versa. The molten metal being hotter than the molding media the heat flow will be from the molten metal into the mold (assuming no external energy is applied to the system). Regardless of the molding media the heat will always flow from the casting into the mold. The use of the terms "insulating molds" and "comducting molds" is ambiguous as all moilds will be conducting the difference is only in the rate of conduction. Regarding units
editi have added the units for the Physical quantities. but given my units, the K² would be in s/m² and no more in minutes/cm². Thought the units are all in international standards...Spypredator (talk) 18:40, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
