Merger proposal edit
I propose that Chris O'Connell (tennis) be merged into Christopher O'Connell. This article has the proper title of his name, and the information can just be merged. Adamtt9 (talk) 01:18, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
Christopher O'Connell is not a 'more appropriate' name as he is known as Chris. There is no additional information on the Christopher O'Connell page to justify a merge. I propose Christopher O'Connell be deleted and Chris O'Connell (tennis) be the sole page used for this person. Coraveh (talk) 01:36, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

- You'll notice many official bodies will use passport/iD names until asked otherwise. Journalists and Tennis Australia use 'Chris'. For example, Nick Kyrgios' statistical records showed Nicholas until his surge into the top 100. Coraveh (talk) 01:42, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
- Well, until the ATP uses Chris, we have to keep it at Christopher as that is how it will show up on draws and tournament info. Adamtt9 (talk) 01:46, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
- In the case of tennis the passport/id name is 100% incorrect. To play in the ITF or ATP a player "Must" register. He is allowed to chose what name he will play under as long as he uses the English alphabet. He must have chosen Christopher as his preferred name. He can certainly change it as Stan Warwrinka did, but as of right now he has told the ITF he wants it Christopher. "Chris O'Connell (tennis)" should be merged into "Christopher O'Connell" which is the older article anyway. This should either be deleted or redirected. i would just delete it as it's only been around for a few hours. Fyunck(click) (talk) 07:19, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
