Within the profession it is felt that some elements of the Hampton report were based on misrepresentation. For example claims of multiple inspections included visits by other inspectorates and I doubt the public would feel that large supermarkets should only have one inspection per year (and that not in every branch). Hampton seems to have based the concept of risk on the relative probability of regulatory failures in supermarkets and small shops, without properly considering the scale of consumer detriment. It is clearly conceivable that an error over one day in a supermarket could cause far more loss to consumers than a year's worth of venality in a corner shop.--Esthameian 23:23, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

The best point made was that, as the service is local authority based, there was some difficulty in collating information nationally, despite the private bulletin board TsLink. This is now being addressed
