More to Say

Is there much more to say about this defunct college? As it stands there is a few sentences and a list of former presidents. Any reason why this shouldn't be merged into Central Methodist University?--RadioFan (talk) 15:07, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

I respectfully disagree with the idea of merging the pages. A couple of reasons in no particular order of importance: 1) The CFC page was just created a couple of days ago after I realized that CFC appeared in several other pages. I quickly entered the information you mentioned and began the process of updating pages with links back to the page. More information will be added as time permits. 2) While CFC and CMU, with it's earlier name of Central College, might appear at first glance to have a shared history, they were distinct institutions. Central College was founded in Fayette, MO for education of young men and there was another institution in the same city, Howard-Payne College, that enrolled women. These two institutions merged to form what is now CMU. Some of the records of CFC, the name, and whatever goodwill it possessed were transferred by the Methodists to CMU along with those of other institutions in Missouri tied to the denomination that closed over time. 3) CFC was one of several private institutions that operated in Lexington and the community was an important center for education and commerce. Wentworth Military Academy continues to exist. I also recently created a page for the Masonic College that pre-dated CFC. I intend before too long to create a page for Lexington College for Women (Baptist). 4) I can understand this type of question if we were editing an encyclopedia intended for print distribution and there was a specified/finite number of pages. Or, if the page existed for an extended length of time without anyone entering new content then there might need to be more conversation.--Brownr (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 14:44, 22 April 2009 (UTC).
