I've flagged this article because it seems a little bit like an advert, as it I think it should be rewritten (and possibly expanded upon) as I think the article worth keeping. GracieLizzie 20:52, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

The edit before yours (by an anonymous user) replaced a good article with something that was probably copy+pasted from a website. I reverted to the version prior to the anon's edit, and thus removed your NPOV tag. --Daniel Lawrence 23:53, 25 November 2005 (UTC)

Edit request

I work for Cats Protection so have a COI, hence the request rather than adding this myself. There are a few out-of-date bits and missing areas of CP's work so I'd like to suggest some edits. There are quite a few - I hope it's OK to suggest this many!

Under 'Aims', it would make sense to include CP's overall vision: Our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs.

The charity's strategic objectives have recently changed too, they're prioritised differently so it would be good for the article to reflect this if possible. The current objectives are here.

The figures given under 'Operations' are also now a little dated - up to date facts and stats are here and here.

As CP has such a heavy emphasis on neutering it may be worth adding in a section about the neutering work CP does. The charity uses various methods to increase neutering rates and reduce overpopulation - methods include targeted regional campaigns, a national voucher scheme and partnerships with local authorities, social housing providers and other charities. It's also a member of the Cat Population Control Group (CPCG) which consists of a number of charities working on this issue. The group recommends neutering at four months and Cats Protection owns a 'Kitten Neutering Database (KiND)' - a database of vets who neuter at four months. More here.

It may also be worth referencing the charity's education talks, helpline (which also double up as the neutering line) and Understanding Feline Origins course - these all tie in to CP's education objective.

CP also now places more emphasis on its Advocacy work, working with an influencing politicians and decision makers to achieve a better world for cats. For a summary of the advocacy work CP does, see here. CP also launched a 'Manifesto for Cats' at Westminster last year.

The charity also has its own magazine which has been running since 1931. Some more info here.

Hi Pr0m3th3a, and thanks for your suggestions. Edit requests on Wikipedia are usually for proposing the exact text you wish to have added to an article you cannot edit yourself due to a conflict-of-interest; hence, a neutral editor can review whether the edit conforms to Wikipedia policy. General requests for expanding an article are welcome, but with a backlog of 180+ edit requests dating back to March of last year, specific edit requests will be prioritized. It would be helpful if you provide us with specifically worded edits to the article along with citations formatted using the citation templates. Try to write in a neutral tone and avoid any promotionalism. Additionally, we usually don't include vision statements in articles because they are by nature promotional.
