Can somebody explain to me what was meant by calling Charlie a University Pastor? He was a layman, and, therefore, according to the laws of the Catholic Church then--and since--could not have served as a pastor.

• I assume the author meant that he was something along the lines of a "pastoral lay minister" and I have ammended the text accordingly. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any information about Rodríguez on the 'net that didn't ultimately trace back to this Wikipedia entry, so I couldn't make any citations of information, nor, unfortunately even verify that he is called "St. Charlie." I am not doubting this article's veracity, but it does need a blue tag until we can cite references. ◄HouseOfScandal►15:56, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Relic in Cathedral of San Juan Bautista

I was visiting the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista and saw the shrine. There was a relic there, but I can't seem to learn anywhere what the relic actually was. It looked like a piece of wood to me. Anybody know? Big T (talk) 19:01, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

the first layperson in the history of the United States to be beatified.

I notice that the article List of American saints and beatified people includes St Kateri Tekakwitha. She was a layperson, and was beatified in 1980, before Blessed Carlos. Is the weight of this sentence then to mean "the first person who existed when the US existed who has been beatified"? I also notice that the article I mention above includes Diego Luis de San Vitores with the only possible reason being that he died in Guam, even if it was long before Guam became part of the US.
