What the heck happened to these pages? I'm going to take back the GL2 page from redirect and fix the info. I'll leave the XM2 to someone else because I don't have all the data. They are obviously different cameras (NTSC vs PAL, 1.2 Mpix vs 1.7 Mpix, etc.) I'll put a see also link to the xm2

Renaming of this article

I don't ever remember seeing a discussion about this. Who decided that the article should be called Canon XM2?

Google does turn up more results for "Canon XM2", but I'd like to hear the reasoning behind this change.

Am I right in assuming that the XM2 is a PAL camera, whereas the GL2 is NTSC? This should be noted in the article.

Also, what happened to the information about carrying over features from the Canon XL-1s? Is this disputed, or did it just get dropped during the merge?

Agreed on most points. My instinct is that if the XM2 is the PAL version, we should stick with two separate articles that are very similar and cross-linked.

The xl 1s carryover is disputed. The GL2 is an obvious update to the GL1 in nomenclature as well as design. The XL series have a very different formfactor and features. I think mentioning that they are in the same family and explaining how the GL2 release date fits in to the Canon Prosumer Camera timeline would be more relevant.

The photo caption is outright confusing in this version. It should simply refer to the camera and not its relatives.

neither page mentions NTSC or PAL.

New Picture

I was kind of getting tired of the picture that was on this page, and I just wanted to give a heads up that i would like to update the pictures on this page for GL2 with this photo I uploaded to Wikipedia. This is a picture that I took myself, and is of my own personal property. But it can be used for anything! Especially for this page, which i originally intended it for! :)
