Talk:Canada–United States Automotive Products Agreement/Archive 1

New proposed move

The name of this treaty was the Canada-United States Automotive Agreement. Perhaps, then, it makes sense that the name of the article should be Canada-United States Automotive Agreement? Hugs and kisses, Paul 19:01, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

Discussion of old move

Why was this moved? Auto Pact is unquestionably the more common name. - SimonP 18:27, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)

I agree. HistoryBA 20:43, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Discussion of new move

I've blundered (in trying to clear up the backlog... should have gone to bed) in assuming that this would be an uncontroversial move and doing it. Apologies.

But IMO it beggars belief that the US-centric name Auto Pact would be used. I urge a rethink. If it's not forthcoming, then (sigh) I'll move it back. Andrewa 10:34, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

"US-centric"? Very few Americans have ever heard of it. The only people I've ever heard talk about it are Canadians, and they universally called it "the Auto Pact". 121a0012 20:04, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

*FYI*

FYI - according to the book "Canadian Cars. 1946-1984 by R. Perry Zavitz 1985 Bookman publishing ISBN 0-934780-43-9 it is referred to as "Agreement concerning Automotive products between the United States and Canada" but the book concedes that is is usually referred to as the "Auto Pact" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stanchfi (talkcontribs) 22:45, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
