Term
editA council-wide gathering of troops is still called a camporee. Within the BSA, the term 'jamboree' is reserved for the National gathering. Local councils are not allowed to use the term, except with national approval. Some council do host 'jamborees', but these are usually larger events then a council camporee. --— Preceding unsigned comment added by 136.182.2.221 (talk • contribs) 11:10, August 24, 2005 (UTC)
Projectoree
edit"A recent phenomenon has been the creation of a projectoree". I have never heard of a 'projectoree'. How widespread is this 'phenomenon' that requires its mention in this article??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 136.182.2.221 (talk • contribs) 14:14, September 2, 2005 (UTC)
- Mentioned on the following pages:
- MW Kaluta's Boy Scout Days
- Chain Bridge District Projectoree (dates back to 1994)
- Perhaps not so widespread. :-( I know there are patches out there from Projectorees held in the 1970s and that the term was one of many used in the early part of the 20th century for the events we now all call Camporees. --Habap 19:12, 2 September 2005 (UTC)
- "A recent phenomenon has been the creation of a projectoree, in which competition occurs between many patrols from several troops. The name projectoree was chosen from among the early names for camporees (before that name was agreed upon)." -- Moved this here for now. Maybe it can go back if we add a history section, but none of the people I have talked with have heard of it and I have found few mentions of any projectorees being held. - There are any number of camporees with special, but local names. Here in the StoneWall Jackson Area Council we have an annual district camporee called Scouting Adventures. I don't think local type names are notable. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 01:37, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
