History

edit

Name -- Originally, it was called the BCS, or Boys Camping Society. When Dudley died, it was renamed in his honor.

YMCA affiliation -- The camp's founder was heavily involved in the New York City YMCA. For most of its early history, it was essentially "run" by the YMCA, but at some point, it became completely independent, with its own governing board of managers and endowment. But it still keeps the "YMCA" in its title.

Other Camps -- Once I heard Dudley and Pasquaney referred to as being part of the "big four" or the "old five" or some such unofficial federation of elite camps. What are the others?

Camp Dudley at Kiniya 2006 was the first summer for Camp Dudley at Kiniya, Dudley for girls. Kiniya is an established girls camp on the Vermont Lake Champlain shoreline with its own history and traditions, purchased by Camp Dudley, and now, as Camp Dudley at Kiniya, blending the best of Kiniya's heritage and tradition with the dedication to character and leadership that shape the Dudley program. Visit http://www.kiniya.com for more information.

Name

edit

The camp's name is Camp Dudley, YMCA according to the official website. [1] More importantly, it has never been referred to as "YMCA Camp Dudley". As per the comment above, because it is no longer actually affiliated with the YMCA, there's no reason why it needs to conform with other YMCA wikipedia articles. I'm going to revert the change of name. --Balerion 21:26, 11 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

B.C.S Program

edit

In the summer of 2008, the B.C.S. outdoors program was launched. It features one week of hiking, one week of canoeing, one week of rock climbing, and one week of rafting. There are two seasons of B.C.S., each taking place at the same time as other two seasons on the Camp Dudley campus. This program is for campers entering their Aide year (rising high school sophomore). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.87.249.15 (talk) 23:17, 7 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Russ Gebhardt?

edit

I can't find any record of Russ Gebhardt, pitcher for the Expos. What years did he play for them? 108.60.228.187 (talk) 15:40, 31 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
