Redirect
editAs per the merge discussion below between Chris and myself this article has been modified to fit into the larger context of the Council that owns and operates it. As such I am making it redirect to that page.Chris M. 23:59, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
merge tag
editmerge as per Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Scouting/RulesStandards. Our intent is not to delete anyone's work or to minimize the importance of any article that already exists on the Wikipedia. Instead our goal is to tighten the information, to make it more relevant and useful for the general Wikipedian. This article will be absorbed in its entirety to the larger state Scouting article. The newer article will encompass OA lodges, Councils, early nonBSA Scouting organizations like Campfire or Woodcraft, Girl Scouting where applicable, and other ideas as they come up. And, for the record, removing merge tags without discussion is poor Wikipedia etiquette.
- I've already said my bit at Talk:Scouting in Texas... Horus Kol 08:00, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- If you are willing, I would support the expansion of this article into a larger Circle 10 article, as there is ample information on the state page to be folded in. Otherwise, there is an existing policy on sub-council entities. Chris 15:10, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
- If your thought is to have a Circle 10 article linked to but seperate from the Scouting in Texas article then I agree, I'll start work on one. Chris M. 18:07, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
- Indeed, run with it, I will help! Chris 19:04, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
Re: Merge tag
editSorry about the tag deletion, didn't realize what I had deleted. Personally I would recommend keeping the article seperate. Scouting in Texas already has a section on Constantin but does not contain the information that this article does nor does it need to as it is an overview of Scouting in the state. In the interest of keeping information on the state page brief this article(which already has a link on the state page for those interested in the information) should, I think, be kept seperate. Information is way to trivial and detailed - Slim down and merge
editWay too much detail for an encyclopedia article. Needs to be slimmed down and merged. Most of it is of questionable importance. See WP:NOT. Wikipedia is not a list or catalogue of everything. Timmy12 13:03, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Slimming down
editSaying that it has questionable importance or is trivial is subjective. For its intended use, to inform about an aspect of Scouting (especially in Texas), it is important as it is the flagship camp of one of the largest councils in the country and one of the most visited camps in the state. If you would specify what areas you believe need "slimming down" that would be helpful. Chris M. 14:26, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Splitting of the Land
editI'm confused by the language of the paragraph on the splitting of the land between BSA and YMCA - what exactly is a "lion's share" of an "almost even split"? Horus Kol 07:59, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Clarification
editWhat was indicated by "lions share" and "almost evenly split" is that the massive amount of land owned by the Constantin family was divided about 53-55% for the side in question. I can verify the exact split and substitute that fact in if there is a consensus on it. Chris M. 14:07, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- That's a lion's share? Or "almost evenly split"? Timmy12 02:02, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
- I changed the wording to be more appropriate and updated the citation tags throughout the article. Chris M. 03:04, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
