May be speculation, but...

The episode's title could also be a reference to the Cheers episode "Breaking in is Hard to Do", in which Rebecca plans on visiting Robin in jail. It'd make more sense than the reference to the song "Breaking up is Hard to Do", which seems to have no connection to the episode. -- ZJH 02:29, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Familyguytakeonme.JPG

Image:Familyguytakeonme.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Commentary stuff

  • This is the first episode of Family Guy to be written by Tom Devanney. (Goodman)
  • When Stewie is trying to asphyxiate himself but fails, his original line was "Either I was a C-section or you’re Stretch Vagstrong" (a reference to the Stretch Armstrong figure) but broadcasting standards would not allow them to do it. (MacFarlane) (Goodman)
  • Family Guy were able to obtain the rights to use the Take on Me video completely, but the show re-did the entire video to make it easier. (Dumas)
  • Originally, there was a joke of Brian standing next to a tabloid newspaper with a picture of Kirstie Alley on and comments on how fat she is, then for her to appear in Godzilla size in the supermarket, chucking food off the shelves. (MacFarlane) They were allowed to do the scene, but the episode was over-running its time and it needed cuts. (MacFarlane) (Wild)
  • The mattisee painting when the Griffins have Joe and Bonnie over is similar to a Mattisse but not actually exactly the same, as there was a legal issue and one they couldn't use because it was nude. (MacFarlane) (Dumas)
  • The episode production staff spent a lot of time deciding on what would be Lois' motivation for becoming addicted to stealing. (Goodman)
  • Stewie playing pretend in the garden is a reference to how you can freak yourself out somewhat. (MacFarlane)
  • Peter riding the dragon is a reference to The Neverending Story. (Goodman) (MacFarlane)
  • Joe pulling himself up when being dragged along the road by Lois and moving himself under the moving car is a reference to Raiders of the Lost Ark. (Goodman)
  • An unused scene was made which showed Chris, directly after hearing Lois' prison term, cutting scene to the television and showing him watching an episode of Six Feet Under when two same-sex people are making out, and him stating "Oh, come on". (MacFarlane)
  • The song based around Qugmire was sung by professional studio singers who sing at events such as the Academy Awards. (MacFarlane)
  • The scene following Peter stating to Lois "I had to do that thing that you usually do for me" is referring to Peter attempting to give himself a blowjob. Broadcasting standards repeatedly fought the gag. (MacFarlane)
  • A deleted scene was made showing Peter falling down the stairs after trying to give himself a blowjob (this was in the episode), but Stewie's foot being lodged in his "butt crack" and losing his shoe in there. (MacFarlane) (Goodman) (Dumas)
  • Peter begins to speak with viewers during his interview with the Sumo Wrestling organiser, which is described by Goodman as "one of the few times, maybe the only time, when [the show] can step out of format and point out the format" (Goodman) and break the fourth wall. (Dumas)
  • The "CBS" Asiantown logo seen on the Griffins TV was cut from the television broadcasting, presumably as it was deemed unacceptable. (Goodman) (MacFarlane)
  • Peter and the family escaping when Joe comes to arrest them in Asian Town is a cinematic omage to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kids. (Goodman)
  • The scene where Joe is chasing the Griffins is a reference to Revenge of the Pink Panther. (MacFarlane)
  • The helicopter pilot stating he always pretends he is shooting at Jamie Farr and Alan Alda is a reference to M*A*S*H (TV series). (MacFarlane)
  • Joe shooting down two TIE fighters while flying the chopper through the sewer in pursuit of the Griffins is a reference to Star Wars. (Goodman)
  • The Goonies are seen in the sewer. (MacFarlane)
