Added the Generalize tag, the term Bracketology has come to mean more than just college basketball. The bracketology project which compares everything to everything has made the term become more broad. BT14 13:52, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

I've been cracking down lately on the addition of external links to the article, and just removed some others that may have been there for a while. I kept the ones that seemed at least a first glance to assert some notability, that they aren't merely some fan's attempt to throw his hat into the proverbial ring. I'm not sure we really need to list any, considering how the first link is to a site that lists 45 projected brackets from different sites. Thoughts? --Maxamegalon2000 22:37, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Non-basketball applications

Adding a section on non-basketball applications addresses the above note about broadening the topic and contributes to notability, as bracketology is not just an esoteric pursuit devoted to one month of college basketball. At least two books of such bracketology applications have appeared from major trade publishers in the last three years. Someone has created a pretty sizeable article on Barack Obama's NCAA picks. It seems to have some staying power as a covered thing, but not so much so that it's significantly different from existing bracket picks. Should we merge relevant information here? What is going on here?

This article seems to be merging Bracketology and predicting the results of the NCAA tournament. Those are two completely different things. I have no idea what is going on here, and I'm not very active on the college sports side of Wikipedia, but as a fan of the sports this article looks like a mess.
