Color(less)? edit

BAs should be balck or grey, but 3.47 eV (B12As2)? So wide band gap should mean that it is even colorless, transparent compound in pure form, like SiC. This compound contains only atoms of metalloids but is colorless?

Wide bandgap materials are, as you point out, transparent (or white) in their defect-free state, since they don't absorb visible light. If they are not colorless, this indicates some kind of light-absorbing defect, creating a color center; often due to impurities (for example, iron impurities in silica glass give obsidian its characteristic black color.)
