Bongo-Bongo style etymologies are also known as sound(-)alike etymologies or Klingklang etymologies (from German, but also used in English occasionally, just search the web for "klingklang etymologie"). However, the topic of methodically sloppy or questionable etymological proposals, connections or explanations may be more appropriate at False etymology or one of the related articles. --Florian Blaschke (talk) 23:19, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

- The point of my comment was that I was thinking of adding mention of these alternative names for the phenomenon in the article, but realised that the phenomenon is also treated in other articles. Considering how many articles are essentially about or at least touch on sound-alike etymologies (though none seems to be explicitly only about it), I suspect that a separate article "Sound-alike etymology" would be considered redundant. --Florian Blaschke (talk) 20:37, 25 June 2013 (UTC)
