Coordinates
editI recently added coordinates since I think some map locator info should be given. A precise location would be best, but I have not found clear and consistent RS support for one.
- The map at Battle of Blackburn's Ford appears to show the ford exactly aligned with Centreville Road. However, an arrow there points slightly to the east of that. Accuracy and precision unknown.
- Does Centreville Road meet Bull Run in exactly the same location as it did in 1861?
- This article states, "Blackburn's Ford was the crossing of Bull Run by Centreville Road". I interpret the word "by" to mean that the crossing was next to or beside Centreville Road, rather than exactly aligned with it.
- This article also states, "Modern day Virginia State Route 28 crosses Bull Run near Blackburn's Ford" (Route 28 is Centreville Road). This also implies that it was not an exact alignment.
- A 2011 article at centreville.patch.com, here, includes a recent photo of the crossing just west of present-day Centreville Road. Apparently that publication or writer at least believes that to be the location of the ford. Local knowledge, maybe a historical marker not visible in the photo? Pending better source information, I opted to shift the coordinates to this location. Mandruss (talk) 08:17, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
