Clarification

I added a couple of sentences to the Types of Feeders section. To clarify one of the benefits of providing a variety of feeder types and bird food. Judy C. 17:16, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Criticism section needs work

The bold-face "not beneficial" is a little over the top, and that section needs to be formally sourced. You can't go about impugning something that people take as much joy from as bird feeding without backing it up. Unless, of course, you are one of those people who likes to suck the joy out of everything. --Jaysweet (talk) 20:06, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Lots of people find joy in tearing up the landscape with off-road vehicles, clear-cutting mountainsides so they can experience gravity with two boards strapped to their feet, or driving monstrous, gas-guzzling pickup trucks because they like the look of them. If you would care to read the articles mentioned in the very next paragraph, you would have all the backup you need and more. But something tells me that no amount of backup or, in this case, common sense is going to convince you that self-gratification is not always the priority. Please leave the wildlife management to the biologists who actually know something about ecology. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 136.159.225.183 (talk) 12:25, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

What feeder is this?

Good for article? Chicken feeder on Farm

Being comprehensive

Like my vacuum cleaner remedy above, there's some material in the article which is more personal experience (or original research) than cited fact. In the article, that ends up causing problems, because the solutions may not be the best. For example, smearing petroleum jelly on a birdfeeder will not stop determined ants. Another example is saying a birdbath should be in easy flying distance of a limb: is that to increase usage, or for bird safety? Another example is feeding the squirrels with corn! Obviously this encourages squirrels, but it also feeds them, making it easier for them to reproduce! Alpha Ralpha Boulevard (talk) 00:16, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

Types of feeders

In the second sentence from the end of the paragraph, beginning with "The traditional topfill hummingbird feeders", is the author saying they are 'some of the best'? Also, the reference to birdbaths seems inappropriate, we are reading about birdfeeders.(Ldorsel (talk) 11:06, 29 September 2010 (UTC)).
