SpacemanSpiff, I know someone who is an honorary Tamil--does that mean I can call on your advice? Student here could do with a pointer or two about how to set up this article. Problem is, they got to it late and need to hurry up, and get it DYK-nominated. Do you have anything to offer? Any good articles for them to look at? We don't want to write the article for him, mind you: this is a student in a freshman comp class. Sitush, how are you with your Hindu festivals? Thanks gents... A couple of style tips. Firstly, WP:MOSHEAD explains how we capitalise section headings, some of which will need amendment in this draft. WP:MOSDATE explains how we deal with dates - for this article, we would be using day-month-year rather than US style but we say "25 February", not "25th February". Here's what I do (I'll write down just how I respond; hope that helps):

• What's "Bhishma Ashtami"? Bhishma Ashtami? Nope.
• Google: "a Hindu festival dedicated to 'Bhishma' of the great Indian epic 'Mahabharata'." Okay... What more?
• Still Google: Bhishma: "Shukla Ashtami marks the death anniversary of Bhishma Pitamah(Father), the day being known as Bhishma Ashtami."
• Okay, Bhishma#Death:

• Only one source. What is this purce? Is it WP:RS?
• "He did wait for about 58 nights for the winter solstice or first day of Uttarayana to give up his body on the arrow bed." - winter solstice? That's Indo-European; that's interesting. What has this story to do with the older Indo-European myhtology and festivals?
• "Mahabharata states that he attained salvation after his death." - what kind of slavation? Moksha, I guess? Why after his death? That's a specific view on moksha. Sources?!?
• "He was granted the Maatru Lok (which is considered even above vaikunth dhaam)." - what's "Maatru Lok"? What's "vaikunth dhaam"?
• "Magha (month) Shukla Ashtami marks the death anniversary of Bhishma Pitamah(Father), the day being known as Bhishma Ashtami." - what's "Bhishma Pitamah(Father)"?!? Something like "Father Christmas"?
• Etc. for this paragraph; it contains plenty to elaborate on, and explain, using WP:RS.

• So, how do we get WP:RS? We can scroll further through the Google-results, but that porbably won't help much. So, we turn to Google Books. J. Gordon Melton (2011), Religious Celebrations: An Encyclopedia of Holidays, Festivals,.. That looks promising. Look it up, see how much you can read of it via Google, and use it. Wait, check: who's the publisher? So for the rest.
• And of course, being student, if a book is good, but you can read a limited number of usefull pages, look it up in your library.
• Last, we turn to Google Scholar. Ah, Melton again. That's a good start.
• So, taht's a starter for sources. Now, when you start writing: keep concise and informative, ask yourself questions (why this, why that, what does that mean?), and keep your readers in mind, presuming they know nothing. Succes! Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 05:56, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
