Talk:Bearcat Heavy Fighter

This entry is a good example of the problem with these ship pages - there is absolutely no background on the Bearcat in the Wing Commander canon. No paragraph about its history, no line of dialogue in a game referring to it... all we know is that it shows up in a few missions in WC4. Yet here we have an elaborate encyclopedia entry with details about when it was designed and why and so forth. This is, for the lack of a better term, fan fiction.

Removed 'space superiority' from the classification. I know it sounds cool, but Wing Commander specifically delineates between a 'heavy fighter' and a 'space superiority fighter'. Just because something sounds neat doesn't mean that all of your favorite ships should be classified that way - classifications such as this exist to *organize*, not to lump together under a single banner.

"F-104A" designation is speculation (especially the 'A').

The references to testing are odd, since you explicitly capture the Bearcats from a factory/assembly line in WC4.

Removed 'faster than the Arrow' reference - a much faster Arrow variant existed well before the Bearcat was ever seen.

Idea that the Bearcat has been retired/replaced by Prophecy are speculation - shouldn't Secret Ops have taught you better, with its continued usage of even older fighters?
