British v. American usage edit

A Briton who has been hospitalized is invariably said to be 'in hospital.' An American similarly situated is said to be "in the hospital." Likewise, a Briton studying at an institution of higher learning is likely said to be 'away at university'. This formation is unlikely to be heard even in the mouth of a very Anglophilic American.
