Odd bit in lead paragraph edit

The first sentence of the lead paragpraph currently ends thus: "when trumpeters in the military transposed Folk music during harsh times."- what does this mean, please? What is meant by "transposed" (because I do not think that we are getting the usual English meaning here at all) and what is the significance of the harsh times, which seem tacked on without a real connection. Some clarification would be very useful, thanks. Best wishes DBaK (talk) 22:23, 29 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
