Even though this is a "census designated place" - isn't this article somewhat problematic, as it is providing rather personal information about a single family?

Income

edit

There seems to be some sort of error in the statistics. There are two households, one with a single person over the age of 65 and one household consisting of a family. The median income for a family is zero, indicating that the town's family does not have any income. Yet, the sole family is not below the poverty line. If the family's income is $0, how can it not be below the poverty line? Also if only men held jobs in the town, making on average $100k/year, with females not having jobs, then how can the income exceed $100k by such a wide margin? It is listed as one of only 8 places in the United States with a population of 5 people? Umm, does that strike anyone else as an odd statement? --65.16.61.35 20:44, 1 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Population

edit

Another apearent error - "1 person under the age of 18, 1 person from 18 to 24, 0 from 25 to 44, 2 persons from 45 to 64, and 2 persons who are 65 years of age or older" - isn't that 6 people?--RA64 23:06, 23 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I edited that information in accordance with the 2000 Census. Age demographics now match total population Bob the Joker 17:44, 26 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

3rd Wealthiest Town

edit

Why is this town listed as the 3rd Wealthiest town? This is some kind of joke, right?

Age

edit

In the village the population is spread out with no person under the age of 18, one person of age 19, one from 20 to 24, two persons from 45 to 54, and one person who is 65 to 74 years of age. The median age is 47.5 years. There are three female inhabitants and two male inhabitants. All three female inhabitants and one of the two male inhabitants are 18 years or older.

How can only one of the two male inhabitants be 18 or over if no one is under 18? Funnyhat 00:36, 3 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Good question. I've changed it to say all five residents are 18 or older. Oldiesmann (talk) 22:21, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

arbitrary metric

edit

Baker and Goshen, Massachusetts are the only two towns or villages in the United States within 29 miles of five different states. Baker is 28.6 miles from Arkansas, 28.2 miles from Illinois, 23 miles from Tennessee, and 18 miles from Kentucky. [7]

29 miles? that is a very random distance to compare and is meaningless. One might say X town is the only state 135 miles from 15 states... 66.116.62.178 (talk) 16:37, 18 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Not arbitrary at all. Many localities feature their proximity to states in a "tri-state" or "quad-state" area. But according to USGS, there are zero towns within 28 miles of five states; Baker and Goshen, MA are the only two villages or towns in the US within 29 miles of five states.DLinth (talk) 00:50, 21 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
