Remove claims that most Bacon consumed in Canada is “Canadian bacon”. This is a weird wives tale. The sources are either American individuals with no actual expertise, or don’t support this at all. Can’t comment on Europe or otherwise, but as a Canadian, “bacon” is bacon, and “Canadian bacon” is a weird term for back bacon. 2607:FEA8:D181:1800:C0F2:4684:1DD7:B84B (talk) 06:26, 13 October 2021 (UTC)

History

- I'm sorry, but that really is a pathetic attempt to start a history section. It omits any actual history of the very common, worldwide foodstuff in favor of a single factoid relevant to only one country that lacks all context and importance to a worldwide audience. So what if Britain in the 1930s had to import most of their bacon? What relevance does that have for anywhere else in the world? And in what possible take on history does omitting the hundreds of years of prior development just to jump to this one data point shorn of its context less than a hundred years ago and then have zero follow up about the 90 years since even remotely look like good writing and appropriate and sufficient coverage of such a topic? It's an exceedingly poor addition regardless of if it's sourced. In fact, I'm leaving out all the context from the source it actually misrepresents what the source is saying. In other words, it doesn't tell the history at all, and really does nothing to improve the article at all. oknazevad (talk) 14:54, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
Bacon Mania
Someone needs to check out the claim that 'bacon mania' is not just some American culture thing but an industry-driven campaign. I'm not going to subscribe or do the research, but I've heard this somewhere and picked this up: https://www.meatpoultry.com/articles/13681-the-evolution-of-bacon-mania - this one says it was and references this article as source https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2014-10-06/bacon-why-americas-favorite-food-mania-happened But I'm not paying for a subscription to check. Incorrect redirect
Why does "Bacos" redirect here? Bacos is not bacon, it is a tectured soy protein product made by Betty Crocker, and was one of a line of similar ptoducts. Other than the suggestion that it's a possible vegetarian substitute for bacon, it has nothing to do with bacon; it doesn't look, smell, or taste like bacon; it is not meat of any kind; it is a vegetable product. May not have it's own page, but it certainly shouldn't redirect to "bacon" -- and it's not even mentioned by name in this article.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.95.43.253 (talk) 17:47, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
