- Since when has Performance Poetry been a big number? surely it needs to be a separate art? Australian literature is the title, its odd! SatuSuro 01:05, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- Since there has been no reply, I propose that the major part of the Performance Poetry section be moved to its own article Australian Performance Poetry, but the general thesis/idea
at the beginning of the section remain in the Australian Literature article. SatuSuro 08:57, 9 August 2006 (UTC) after spending a fair while cleaning up (formatting & links) it occurs to me this looks plagiarised. the references are to a bibliography that's missing, (ok possible just been lopped off somewhere) and before i got to it, it was formatted for html. how do we check for/deal with this? Bsnowball 18:07, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
- Remove the whole section to a new separate article Performance Poetry in Australia - and put a very strongly worded talk page note about suspected plagiarism, and unreferenced - and let it die a Afd death if its not fixed up! SatuSuro 05:37, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- i was a little off the mark claiming it must be ripped from html. first appears [here] (can't work out how else to reference that) w/ no formatting & is then edited by User:Komninos & others so it looked like it was copied html. still looks highly sus, no use looking for original source on web, comes up with this page, & copies of it. Weekend Australian
Anyone with slightest interest in the subject should read todays (14th October 2006) article about the subject by someone who has noted the poor level of comprehensiveness in this subject area SatuSuro 02:00, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
- I read it. Was quite an interesting article. It's something I've noticed before, and we should definitely work to change it. Damian.kelleher 05:32, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Removal of Performance Poetry section from this article
- Strong Support viz my comments fruther up this page. SatuSuro 14:15, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
The section proposed to be split apparently was. The title of this section is a copy of the text on this page in that section. - Bladeswin | Talk to me | 05:31, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- thx for pointing that out. fixing it up. moved it to Australian performance poetry & re-directed the above to this page
& i've removed all of it as it isn't sourced, i'm no longer sure about plagiarism, so i've left it all there w/ refs warning → bsnowball 16:31, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
- It is very odd that a poetry tag is at the bottom of the article, shouldn't that be on a seperate page about Australian poetry? Knobbly 20:56, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Subtitles
Given there's one for poetry, surely the rest of the content should be ordered according to 'fiction/literature' and 'non-fiction' - and perhaps retain a 'writers' para as well. The writers mentioned are also very eclectic, and misleading: a lot named are specialised, and more of the popular, well-read writers are ignored. This whole page needs a major re-write. How about it? Littlepilgrim1 06:56, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Its been said before :) SatuSuro 08:13, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- if you're going to re-write the page from scratch it isn't going to be much better if it's still unsourced (see WP:CITE) i know this makes for more work, but it will definitely improve the article, as it is it's just going to be a different set of opinions on the topics touched on. tho i don't disagree it needs alot of work. ⇒ bsnowball 15:32, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- But I'm not citing anything! This is stuff I know. I quite agree with your point, but if you have knowledge of the area, you're not sourcing stuff from books. I'll add resources if I think of them, but I haven't yet used secondary material. Littlepilgrim1 07:38, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
poetry sections
removed 'anti-poetry' as its unsourced vanity, & a one person (if not fictional) 'artistic movement' wouldn't warrant that ammount of space even if sourced. any objections to major cut of 'erotic poetry' & merging into the poetry section? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bsnowball (talk • contribs) 11:03, 5 March 2007 (UTC).
- Please do, or even remove it entirely as violating WP:NPOV and WP:NOR. Note this paragraph was also added as a separate article and is being discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Australian erotic poetry. —Celithemis 00:20, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Paul Jennings and other children's authors
Just wondering why there's a huge gap in Australian Chrildren's writers such as Paul Jennings and others, especially since they're the most prolific of Australian authors, and even moreso in contrast to writers from overseas. --lincalinca 08:42, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Australian literature
I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Australian literature's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Problems with some pics
Good work with the expansion, but I think we're not allowed to use fair use images (in this case book covers where the cover art is still in copyright) anywhere other than in articles about the book in question.--Misarxist 10:00, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note. what's the protocol here? Given that these pics are: low resolution images; part of commentary of a non-profit, educational nature in a strongly related topic area; essentially constitute positive publicity for the the original works and are too small to be copied for commercial or other purposes - my reading is that they would pass the fair use test? #AustLitRocks
Gidday. I've been creating basic pages for otherwise Wiki-neglected Australian authors. Ping me here if you can think of any that need a page, I'm happy to start off the stubs for you. Locochoko (talk) 02:30, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
Genre fiction
Hi, Just wondering what people would think of combining sci fi & crime under a “genre fiction” heading? Seems apt and would give scope to start to explore other genre fiction that is otherwise neglected. Also I can’t help but notice that there’s no section on Australian women’s writing. Cheers.
