I've reviewed quite a few articles, but I usually steer clear of Music related ones. Although I can't think why right now - but anyway, having clicked on this from the nominations page thinking it was the public domain version, I'm now intrigued enough to want to review it straight away. Especially since there are remixes! Anyway, serious reviewing mode on.

  • Lead
    • Does the "e" in "Extended play" need to be capitalised? (and in the second paragraph of the first section)
    • Is is Island or Island Records? (same query for infobox)
    • Music articles tend to omit the 'Records' bit in the lead and info box, usually using it in the release table.  — Calvin999 18:04, 18 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
    • Change the comma after "Using the public domain poem "Auld Lang Syne" by Robert Burns" to a semi-colon. Otherwise it reads as if the poem was by Burns and the others.
  • Background and composition
    • I made a quick edit to the first sentence as it was easier to do it than explain it.
    • First time you mention Carey in the paragraph of the text of the article body, you should refer to her as Mariah Carey rather than just by her surname. (Sorry, being pedantic)
    • No, you're right, I missed that. I usually listed the writers first, but as this is a re-arrangement of the song, I thought I had already said her name.  — Calvin999 18:04, 18 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
    • recored -> recorded
    • "apart from James "Big Jim" Wright who played the piano" - flip this around as you're referring to the instruments. So I suggest replacing it with "apart from the piano which was played by James "Big Jim" Wright."
    • The "thumping" quote - can this be attributed to someone, otherwise it'll fall foul of the WP:WEASEL policy.
  • Critical reception
    • When there is a quote inside a quote, such as in the Rolling Stone quote, MOS:QUOTEMARKS says that you should use single quotation marks for quotes inside the quote. So "extra festive" should be 'extra festive'. As for the song titles in the quote... I think we're stuck with them.

Ok, I think that's it for the review. There isn't much, mostly its just some clarifications and some copy edits. Then this will be fine for GA. Shame we can't keep the DYK until New Years! Miyagawa (talk) 17:40, 18 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
