Talk:Aulëan

Latest comment: 4 years ago by Goustien in topic Redirect target

I don't think a language family with only one language in it deserves a separate article. (It might be more apt to describe Khuzdul as a language isolate.) Is there any possibility that this stub could be expanded? If not, the little information in it should be merged into Khuzdul. --Jim Henry | Talk 15:37, 9 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

I agree. Aulëan is really only of interest as it relates to a) Khuzdul or b) Tolkien's Middle-earth languages in general. Especially if this article contains all that can really be said about the topic. Putting the information in one place makes it more useful because it's more accessible. -Aranel ("Sarah") 20:14, 9 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
Fully agreed. Stubby articles like this one (with little or no perspective for expansion) give conlangry a bad name. Merge. --IJzeren Jan 07:41, 9 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
Though I have no objection to the proposed merger, might I suggest that in that case, the article on Oromëan might likewise be merged into the relevant articles on Elvish languages? Aulëan and Oromëan were specifically created as companion articles (nobody ever seems to have bothered to add Melkian), and I don't like the inconsistency of treating them differently.Vremya 03:01, 26 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
Maybe. But the point of my original comment was that this is a language family with only one known language in it; there's really nothing much to say about it. Oromëan is a much larger language family with several languages in it. I don't know for sure, but I suspect Oromëan could be expanded significantly, while Aulëan probably can't be. --Jim Henry | Talk 19:35, 28 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

I was browsing Articles to be merged and this title caught my eye, so I've done the merge into Khuzdul. --Scott Davis Talk 11:47, 13 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

Redirect target edit

I've changed the target to Lhammas, which is Tolkien's only work that explains the term. This is to parallel the redirect at Melkian. Goustien (talk) 18:02, 29 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
