Merge discussion edit

It seems we have three different articles on this topic that could be effectively combined into one article:

I would suggest that we merge all the articles into Atmospheric icing, possibly renaming it to Atmospheric icing conditions.

The FAA website frequently refers to Atmospheric icing conditions and also uses this terminology in the FAR: [[1]]

What are your thoughts?

I am against it as "Ice Protection System" is not a condition. It is related but clearly a separate issue.

As an individual with extensive experience in aviation and training in meteorology I believe the topics are unique and should remain individual articles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.18.255.105 (talk) 13:05, 5 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Atmospheric icing is a term covering much more than simply aircraft icing. I am against the three articles being merged for this reason. Icing conditions and Ice protection system could however be combined into a new article titled "Aircraft icing" with icing conditions and ice protection automatically linking to that page. Ice protections system is an aeronautical system and Icing condition is an atmosphere condition. Why do they should be merged? One is to prevent the ice accumulation and formation. The latter is the condition where the ice formation can occur. 189.102.178.184 (talk) 16:42, 21 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

ASCE 7 discusses atmospheric icing of ground structures. edit

Atmospheric icing is a structural condition that affects radio towers and other open framed structures, like signs. I suggest expansion to discuss this issue.
