The term "arioso" is used for all kinds of derivative arrangements of the sinfonia of BWV 156 or the largo of BWV 1056 but it is not used in the case of BWV 156 and BWV 1056 themselves. Then how did the term "arioso" arise for the arrangements? Is it legitimate to apply that term to BWV 156 and BWV 1056?
