Incorrect image in article

edit

The main image of this spider, showing the underside, is not Araneus trifolium. The bands on the legs, and underside patterns, more match that of Araneus diadematus, but Araneus trifolium looks entirely different on the underside, with a more smooth coloration and lacking the two white spots, as well as having much more defined bands on its legs, which vary less in thickness. Juveniles can sometimes have slightly different patterns on their underside, but this image is very clearly an adult spider. 89.150.169.146 (talk) 20:19, 25 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Microscopic examination of the genitalia of mature spiders is the only really sure way of identification, but I agree that the image that was in the taxobox lies outside the range of images present in sources. I've replaced the taxobox image by one from the text. Peter coxhead (talk) 06:41, 26 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
