née Sims

I wonder where the "née Sims" part in Dr. Fisher's biography comes from. I find it only mentioned in http://www.chem.ucla.edu/dept/Faculty/hawthorne/biographical/biograph.htm but not anywhere else. In William Frederick Fisher's NASA biography (http://science.ksc.nasa.gov/persons/astronauts/e-to-h/FisherWF.txt) she is mentioned as "Married to the former Anna L. Tingle of St. Albans, New York. Her mother, Mrs. Elfreide [obviously a spelling mistake for Elfriede] Tingle, resides in San Pedro, California. Her father, Mr. Riley F. Tingle, is deceased. Can anyone explain? Wikify

This is gonna be one heck of a job to wikify, but by gosh I think I'm gonna try it. Later though, I'm tired =P [[User:Consequencefree|Ardent ]] 08:13, 15 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I do not know how her name got so screwed up, but if this is the same girl I went to school with (in San Pedro), then there are a NUMBER of corrections that need to be made.....

1. Her name is listed as Anna Lee Tingle Fisher or AnneMarie Fisher : Living and growing up in San Pedro since the age of 11, in 1963, one of my same grade classmates - all the way through junior high and high school (I had at least one class with her) was a quiet girl by the name of AnneMarie Tischler, although all of us fellow classmates only know as "Amree Tischler", because that apparent nickname was the only name we all knew her by......she called herself Amree, and as far as I know, all her schoolwork was done under the name of Amree Tischler. Decades later, I was periodically reading about, and hearing about, a San Pedro astronaut named Annemarie Fisher. The whole first name and the different last name had me wondering who this "hometown girl" was, when my family had been in San Pedro since 1963 ?.....only years later, did I FINALLY see an article about her in either the Daily Breeze or the Los Angeles Times, in which she was listed as Dr. Annemarie (Tischler) Fisher. I read fast, so as I was meantally reading through her name quickly, and a lightbulb lit up in my brain, and I suddenly realized that this person was the Amree Tischler who was part of my class, and whom I was acquainted with !.....Where the "Tingle", "nee Sims", or "Lee" names come from -- I have NO IDEA !!!!

2. Again, if this is the same person, she did NOT graduate from San Pedro High School in 1967. I had seen that 1967 date before, and figured it either had to be wrong, or was Amree so bright that she was able to possibly skip TWO grades in order to graduate in the year printed ?....I just now dug out my high school yearbooks, and looked first in the 1967 one (which was the year I started high school). I did not see her listed anywhere in the graduating class of 1967, so I checked in MY graduating class book (that was early 1970 [we were San Pedro High School's last midterm graduating class, in January 1970]. That's where I DID find the photo of "Ann Marie Tischler", the classmate we all know as Amree.

3. Once again, if this is the same person, she was not born in 1949 (the "August" month listed MAY be right....I have a memory of another girl near me - in one of my classes - mentioning that her birthday was also in August [as mine is]), but must have been born in either 1951 or 1952 (Dana Junior High's western property line is the eastern border line of San Pedro High's property, so our whole class pretty much knew each other or were acquainted with each other from starting junior high through graduating high school [plus, San Pedro is a smallish town, so most everybody knows each other, or is related to each other]-and we consisted of students born either in 1951 or 1952). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.125.20.19 (talk) 21:59, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

if this woman IS the Amree Tischler I remember (and the color photo of her on this Wikipedia page looks close enough to her graduating photo to possibly be her), this biography needs to be changed regarding her name AND her high school graduation year...............TO "Dr. Annemarie [Amree] (Tischler) Fisher, who graduated from San Pedro High School in 1970" (NOT 1967 !) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.125.20.19 (talk) 21:35, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

09/19/2012, later that same afternoon......

I just did some more digging in my San Pedro High School annuals, and I just now DID find an "Anna Lee Tingle" in the graduating class of 1967 (the "Tingle" last name kept ringing a bell in my memory). Then, the name I saw in the paper previously was incorrectly combined with the name of the girl I thought it was........this is NOT the person I was thinking of, although I DO recognize her from her graduating photo. I did not know this girl, although I knew OF her (she WAS in the graduating class of my first year in high school, and I think I do now remember her receiving awards during her graduation program). — Preceding unsigned comment added by PedroPointGirl (talkcontribs) 22:47, 20 September 2012 (UTC)

Occupation?

The data box claims one of her occupations was as a chemist. Being a co-author on 3 papers her supervisors or colleagues wrote isn't exactly an occupation in the normally understood sense. (That would mean many graduate students in physics, biology, etc. would qualify for that same claim.) My point is not whether she was primary or secondary (or tertiary) contributor to the papers, but whether she did any work for pay outside of the lab work necessary for her graduate degree. I don't see any evidence of that in her bio. She was a chemistry student, a chemistry graduate student, got a Master's Degree in chemistry, but I don't see any evidence that that was ever her occupation.98.21.214.147 (talk) 18:29, 23 September 2017 (UTC)
