Wind

The wind readings on Allyson's personal bests are within legal limits. Is there another way to post this so that it doesn't seem like these marks are "wind-aided"? Runshan 04:53, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Olympics 2012

It seems to me that what happened with the trials for the 2012 Olympics has not been represented properly. The website which is referenced as [16] contains the following :

"Layden’s report from Sunday night said Tarmoh was leaning toward not racing against Felix, though she felt in her “heart of hearts” that she had earned the third and final spot on the women’s Olympic 100 team and felt “kind of robbed.”"

TV station Eurosport reported (2012/08/06 19:25 GMT) that Tarmoh was put under serious pressure to step back.

It may not be provable, but if this encyclopedia wants to remain objective it should not leave out the fact that there's a controverse about the possibility that Tarmoh was stopped from taking her rightfull place in order to maximize the chances of the USA to win olympic medals. 84.186.138.20 (talk) 18:40, 6 August 2012 (UTC)JB.

So you're saying is this "encyclopedia" reports unsubstantiated rumors in order to be "complete"? There are absolutely no such rumors circulating in the Track & Field community and neither Ms. Felix nor Ms. Tarmoh have endorsed any such claim. So, why not claim the pyramids were built by aliens? That's just as valid as these claims of pressure on Ms. Tarmoh.CharmsDad (talk) 17:39, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

The 100 m final in the trials was indeed a tie. The photo from the outside of the track, which partially blocked the view of Ms. Felix, was used for the initial claim that Ms. Tarmoh had won, but the photo from the inside clearly showed the tie. Prior to this there were no set procedures for determining who would get the third spot in the event of a tie. USA Track and Field decided that the athletes involved would receive the option of 1) a runoff, 2) a coin flip, or 3) one athlete withdraws. If either chose a runoff then that was the course of action. Only if BOTH decided on a coin flip would that be used. While there are some unproven claims of pressure on Ms. Tarmoh to withdraw and cede the third spot to Ms. Felix, she was given the option of a runoff or coin flip and decided not to take it. Ms. Tarmoh received a gold medal for the 4x100 as one of the alternate runners. Both she and Ms. Felix are outstanding athletes and both show a great deal of class. I expect they will both be running at the elite level for years to come. One final note, as a long time track and field person I must say Ms. Felix has got to be the most graceful sprinter I have seen in a very, very long time.CharmsDad (talk) 03:22, 16 August 2012 (UTC) i am allyson felix and i do olympics — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:6950:27B0:A40C:832C:3D57:5C50 (talk) 21:19, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
