Location

The incoming link to this article agrees with the text about where it is. However Geoscience Australia only has one Allenvale in Victoria, and it's near Lorne. Google Maps has an Allenvale Road in the Lorne area, but nothing relevant near Bairnsdale. Some other reference is required. --Scott Davis ^Talk 14:40, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

this would appear to be a candidate for deletion -is definitely a locality name but Never had a PO nor did the alternative names below (Bulumwaal Renamed from Boggy Creek PO 1/1/1871; closed 3/5/1978. see https://www.premierpostal.com/cgi-bin/wsProd.sh/Viewpocd.w?) from a genealogical site: -"Boggy Creek (near Bullumwaal) Also known as Allenvale, Five Mile Creek and Middle Boggy Creek. This "Allenvale" article is fatally flawed.

This is not "Allenvale, Victoria". Allenvale is actually a tiny hamlet and farm/orchard, including the site of a former sawmill, its associated workers cabins, as well as farming/accommodation/hospitality properties & a camping ground. It is located in Victoria's Surf Coast Shire about 1.6km inland from Lorne on the St. Georges River near its intersection with the Allenvale Road (naturally enough). It is the site of a century-old apple orchard and was the site of Lorne's first golf club. It is well known to the hundreds of thousands of locals and travellers who have visited the hamlet over the decades, worked there, or bought product from the farm & former sawmill (like me & my family).

The (dubious) citation here clearly states (with no evidence) that the alleged Gippsland township's name is "Allanvale" (please note this contradicts the spelling of this article's title). This also contradicts the uncited claim in the text that the alleged township was named after the first postmaster, Mr. Allen (note this spelling contradicts the citation). In addition, the citation claims the town's name was changed to Boggy Creek, the exact opposite of what the uncited text claims.

In short, this article is a dubious mess based on the flimsiest of citations. I suggest that this should be re-investigated & rewritten to create possibly 2 articles (if the details of the Gippsland town can be verified). Presumably, given the current citation's spelling, this would lead to 2 articles named "Allanvale" (for the Gippsland town?) & "Allenvale" (for the hamlet inland from Lorne.). - Cheers! 59.102.86.112 (talk) 05:09, 30 December 2018 (UTC)
