An Ohian feminist author, eh? I'm intrigued! Averageuntitleduser (talk) 21:48, 26 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Well-written

edit

Not much to fuss over:

  • Jones' — for the two instances, rephrase or add another "s".
    done all three.
  • The New Orleans area and the bayous were known to Jones, who regularly visited her sister in Jennings, Louisiana. — I thought this stuck out a tad. Could it be tied back to, say, her books or writing style? Or qualified time-wise? If not, it probably suffices.
She wrote a book about a slave (who does not know she is a slave) in the bayous, so I thought it is useful to clarify she knew at least the geography from her own experience. Tried to rephrase.
Beatrice of Bayou Têche ... "the bayous were known to Jones" ... whoops, forgive my blunder. Still, I do like the flow of this rephrase. Averageuntitleduser (talk) 02:16, 31 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • "Cuba" is linked in the article but not the lead.
I am not sure what is best; MOS:LEADLINK and MOS:OL may allow a range of things here.
Ooh, you're right. I tend to use the country rule of thumb, so I've delinked it if you don't mind. Averageuntitleduser (talk) 02:16, 31 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • She was included among a list of Iowa authors in 1890. — even if it's not too significant, noting the list might be helpful.
Will do this later. Thank you for the review so far! —Kusma (talk) 10:45, 29 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
We have an article about the author of the list, so definitely worth a little bit more precision. —Kusma (talk) 13:19, 29 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Verifiable with no original research

edit

Looking at the sources, I'm seeing no red flags. Many university presses, prominent authors, and peer-reviewed journals. Despite being a re-issue, Kolterman 1991 is essentially a secondary source. All sentences are cited inline, and I've little close paraphrasing during the spot-check.

Broad in its coverage

edit

Some standard checks on Taylor & Francis, Springer, Muse, Newspapers.com, and JSTOR either return sources in use, advertisements, or passing mentions, usually in conjunction with Unveiling a Parallel. This is a short article, but I do believe it covers its bases.

Neutral

edit

No issues on this front; opinions are attributed.

Stable

edit

This is a given; no recent edit wars or content disputes.

Illustrated

edit

Assuming you haven't found any portraits or drawings (I haven't either), this is a pass. Jones seemed fairly low-profile, so I wouldn't be surprised if her portrait was never published. The title page's public domain licence seems correct.

Summary

Thanks for sticking with me @Kusma: happy to promote this article! Averageuntitleduser (talk) 18:16, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
