Will this be an af2 team? edit

In its press release mentioning that the team will postpone play from 2007 to 2008, there is no mention that the team is in the af2. In addition, it refers to the Alaska Wild as an "indoor football" team, while af2 teams call themselves "arena football" teams.

  • Short answer: No. Longer answer: You're right, Arena Football is a trademarked term, only applicable to Arena or af2 teams. As the article now explains (I don't know how long ago you left your comment), the Wild were initially accepted into the af2, but due to financial concerns, the Wild announced that they wouldn't begin playing until 2007-2008 (still in af2). Shortly after, they got an offer from the Intense Football League (a Texas and Louisiana indoor league) to play with them for at least the first year. The way that indoor leagues are, we'll probably see the Wild play in the IFL for one or two years, then move up to the af2. Personally, I think that's a good move; the Alaska Aces are still reigning champions, so the city's excited about sports right now. According to the Wild website, front row season tickets are sold out, two months before the Wild's first season. It's worth noting, though, that the Employment page of AK Pro Sports' website still shows an af2 logo. Maybe I should tell them; the Arena folks seem like the litigious sort. Coach edit

I updated the Head Coach to Keith Evans. No word on why they have a new coach; I believe Hill was supposed to be interim coach anyway. Not sure. Point is, the official website says that Evans interviewed in January, and is now officially the head coach. Akbeancounter 01:07, 10 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
