I have restored some information deleted by Jytdog. Please see his comment:

It's certainly hard to understand how it could be missed since the statement is the very first sentence of the source article. I also note that Formerly 98 added a citation needed tag to the info re the EU ban even though the source says "Monsanto's Lasso was banned in France in 2007 following an EU directive after the product had already been withdrawn in some other countries". While that source may not be good enough for you and Formerly, I think that most people would accept it. At any rate, I found another source and removed the tag.
