cleanup tag

This article is kind of a mess, mostly due to formatting/MoS issues, i.e. referring to Fältskog by her first name throughout the entire thing, boldfacing albums and songs when they should be italicized/quoted, etc. The writing is a little awkward as well. Probably doesn't need a complete re-write, but some overall maintenance would be beneficial. -- eo 03:31, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

Is it necessary?

Is it necessary to list all those European countries - Finland, Norway and so on - where Agnetha's albums were particularly successful? Shouldn't it just say "in Europe", "in several European countries"? In my opinion, the article should inform about overall success of the artist, specifically naming only the biggest markets like US, UK, Germany, Japan, and the native country of a performer. 2007 Album

The rumored 2007 solo album has no place in the discography here. It is mentioned in the body of the entry as rumor, and that is sufficient mention. I have twice removed this entry from the discography, and I hope that this time it will stay removed.

I do not understand why the few sentences regarding Faltskog not investing in the musical Mamma Mia, should be deleted. It is correct information and neutrally written. Stupid Crap !

The Wikipedia requested a smaller picure of Agnetha Fältskog. (Read and you will see.) I went to all the trouble to produce one and to upload it; and then some ungrateful cretin deleted it. That is about as stupid as one can get. When someone does something like this, the proper answer is Thank You. Common sense and common courtesy are doubtless not as common as they used to be. Section headings

It somewhat bothers me that well over half of the article is in the introduction (before the table of contents). Perhaps I shall put in section headings and the like. -- John Hupp 03:37, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

The section heading "1990 to 2004:..." mentions something about a second marriage in the heading but nothing about it in the section. Additional picture

The article contains a single picture of Agnetha 'today', but none from during the Abba era when she was at her most famous. The article on Anni-frid Lyngstad, by contrast, features a picture of her taken in 1977. I would suggest that a picture, such as that on the following link, from 1977, be included in the Agnetha Fältskog article:

This is fascinating! Now it's totally flip-flopped, with there being a picture of Agnetha in her article from 1977 and no current picture from today; while over at Anni-frid's article, the only picture there now is one from "today". Is it too much to ask to have a current picture and one from their heyday in both articles? I agree. The term "citation needed" is used far too often through this article. Eliminating this term would make the article easier to read, and would not convey the impression that the facts within it are dubious. Either these facts are right or they are not, cross referencing them is not in keeping with an article of this type. Useless Information

Why is her sisters current occupation mentioned in this article? Is the fact that "Her younger sister, Mona Fältskog Ericsson (1955), works as a nurse in Stockholm.[citation needed]" relevant in any way to her career? Wikipedia is becoming more and more ridiculous, not only with the information provided in articles but also how they're written. I've read some articles that seem to go out of the way to use odd words and phrases. Up until now I haven't said anything because I don't want to seem petty but it's getting difficult to hold back. I don't recall the exact article, but there's one that uses the word fortnight rather than just saying 2 weeks. Granted, the subject was about some event in early U.S. history, but it wasn't used in a quote or in reference to the way people spoke back then. It's one thing to provide links in articles, which in and of itself is distracting, but the reader shouldn't have to stop to look up a word in order to understand the article. This is after all, supposed to be a source of learning and no one should have to bone up on a subject in order to learn about it. Veganism

"citation needed" - really?!?!?!

What's with all the "citation needed" items? At this writing, I count 47 instances of "citation needed". For example, do we really need a citation for, "In the 1980s, Fältskog released three English-language solo albums"? I'm not going to remove any of them - yet - because some Wikipedians might object. I'm Swede and I can't recall that I have ever heard anyone here use a "y"-sound. I suppose it's possible that's the case in some parts of the country, but a hard "g" is definitely the norm. There are two possible ways to pronounce Agnetha in Swedish, and none of them can be written an-ye-ta. The name is usually pronounced like Ang-ne-ta. The first part is pronounced like ung in lung, hung or sung. The second part is pronounced with an e-sound which does not exist in English, but in Spanish. The e-sound in Senor is close enough. The last part, ta is pronounced like the beginning of tapas (Mexican food). "ug-near-tuh (in BBC English where the r is silent)" is a good description of the pronounciation with a hard g. The version with a hard g is rarely used. A girl named Agnetha can use it to explain how her name is spelled. Then she would also need to add "there is also a silent h between the t and the a at the end of the name. The name Agneta, without the h, is actually more common than Agnetha, but both names are pronounced exactly in the same way. And trust me, I know what I am talking about. I am a Swede and have lived in Sweden for all my life, 62 years.

Something strange in this article is that in the fact box her Birth name is spelled Agneta, not Agnetha, as is used everywhere else. I will not change it because it is possible that she was given the name Agneta at birth, and later changed it to Agnetha, but if no reference can be found for the spelling in the info box it should be changed to Agnetha. I don´t understand neither the question about the asserted position change nor the remark about the "th".As far as I´m concerned Agnetha was always Agnetha Åse Fältskog and I can´t seem to find any sources where otherwise is claimed.There´s no adapting to more anglophonian preferences about the spelling of her quite swedish name.The "th" is not a dental fricative as θ or ð in english; thing or that,infact it´s not a " th " at all, but simply a conventional "t" succeeded by a conventional(or rather a numb) "h".Flight714 (talk) 04:41, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

Agnetha versus Anni-Frid Lyngstads solo albums sales

Anni-Frid Lyngstads 1975 solo album 'Frida Ensam' apparently sold better in Sweden and Scandinavia than Fältskogs 1975 solo album 'Elva Kvinnor I Ett Hus' according to Carl Magnus Palms Abba biography 'Bright Lights, Dark Shadows'. Even Lyngstads 1982 solo album 'Something's Going On' fared better both in Sweden and internationally than Fältskogs 1983 solo album 'Wrap Your Arms Around Me', according to the same source. Clean-Up needed

This page about Agnetha Fältskog needs a clean-up for several reasons.

• Reference #9 Agnetha Faltskog's Biography at Agnetha Faltskog.net is an empty site. This empty site is used in the article as a reference eight times.

• Reference #6 Official Biography of Agnetha Fältskog. The website agnetha.net is NOT the official site of Agnetha Fältskog. The people responsible for that site do know this very well. Note the fact that they avoid the term "Biography" on the page that is declared by Wikipedia "Official Biography of Agnetha Fältskog". Only at the end you'll find the term "Agnetha's Bio", deliberately avoiding the "-graphy" suffix for good reason. Furthermore you'll find nowhere the term "Agnetha Faltskog's official site" on this website. Again for good reason. What you'll find is the term "Official site"; without any specification a pointless term. This so-called "Official Biography of Agnetha Fältskog" is used in the article as a reference 19 times. Note also that there is a biography on Agnetha Fältskog's official site agnetha.com: The biography of Agnetha Fältskog. And there is a timeline as well: Timeline

• Name: Her real name (birth name) is in fact Agneta Åse. She added the letter H after moving from Jönköping to Stockholm. This concert advertisement of Enghardts Orkester proves that Agnetha used to write her first name without the letter H when still living in Jönköping. And there is more evidence from the time with the Bernt Enghardts orkester. Here is a copy of a registration document with name and address, issued on June 12, 1969 for a Triumph Spitfire car. This document was issued after Agnetha had added an H to her artist name. So there can be no doubt that the form Agnetha is her artist name and not her real name.--12km (talk) 23:08, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

While you might be correct with regard to the spelling ofher name, your evidence for it however is not sufficient. The 2 documents you cite could simply contain a typo/spelling error, such things happen rather often with names that have more than one common spelling. So sort that out properly one would need look at at her birth certificate or passport from that time otherwise we simply have to stick to the spelling used in various authoritative publication about her.
