There is certainly room for consesnsus on this and related pages. I would note the following:
- To avoid using the term "also nominated" for every year, and to tighten up the vertical spacing, I've double bulleted the films that were also nominated.
- I've shown both the production house and the producer in that order; I'm showing the nationality of the film after the production unless it is USA.
- I've gone along with putting the most recent years first on this list, even though my preference is to put the earliest ones first, as on any kind of chronological list.
The book that I'm using has very thorough lists for all categories up to the 1987 awards. That's more than enough to keep me busy for a long, long time. If anyone likes my approach, you could start with 1988 and later. Eclecticology
I am considering reversing the order of this list so that the earliest awards appear first. This seems so much more logical Certain comments that affect broad changes in some of the awards make more sense that way. I'll wait for comments before I make the change. Silence is consent. Eclecticology
Very nice of you to take on putting up these pages, E. I like it as is -- but then I'm an historian! One thing, though -- I think that, when you first create all these potential links, they should be disambiguous -- Lots of these films have titles that have been duplicated, or that are also books or plays. I would pipeline the links from the get-go. J Hofmann Kemp
- I try to disambiguate whenever it seems appropriate, but sometimes it's hard to know when that is going to be needed. For the vast majority, the names or titles are unique anyway. I've also favoured putting films of the same name on the same page; at other times the book and the film are so interdependent that they should be together. This can give a great overview of how a subject was trated at different times. See Hamlet. In any event I plan to approach the issue pragmatically on a case by case basis.
- I'll look to reversing the order when I get a chance, hopefully without edit conflicts. It would be nice if someone else could do it for some of the other categories. Eclecticology
