Talk:Abolition of slavery

Initial Version edit

Abolition of slavery (often simply abolition).

I'm not sure where to fit in the concept that war captives (combatants and non-combatants alike) are somehow "fair game" for enslavement, an idea at least as old as the Trojan War. I recall that Achilles pouted because he couldn't enjoy Briseis, his slave girl captive. I guess this was in the era when rape and pillage was considered a right. Should I ask Helga (see Eisenhower and German POWs), or would that be stirring up a hornet's nest? --Ed Poor
