7th Street often gets called 7th Avenue because of a very popular Afrikaans language television soapie called "7de Laan" (literally "7th Avenue") which features many of 7th Street's shops in its title sequence. Melville has streets and avenues running perpendicular to each other and although 7th Avenue does exist, it does not intersect 7th Street along the cafe strip.
