Wikipedia-Capture

I noticed several "mopping up" attempts that could only be from 24 Hour Fitness hirelings or the principles themselves. Cited entries were removed or modified. (RE: BBB statistics) I've added a "Criticisms" section with a few cited cases which 24 Hour Fitness has found themselves either settling or are still involved in litigation. I'll be returning from time to time to check, but I think this article is a subject of "Wikipedia-Capture". A spoof on Regulatory Capture, only this is where the content of an article on a subject is being controlled either by the employees of principles of the company themselves.--50.128.155.168 (talk) 06:54, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

Neutrality of "Employee Controversy" section

The "Employee Controversy" section appears to have been written by a disgruntled employee and refers to the inner workings of the company's commission structure. It is unclear how this information contributes to the understanding of the company. Also, the references listed in that section refer to the prior section ("Super Sport controversy"). No references are provided to confirm the assertions made in the "Employee controversy" section.

Certain managers do get commission. These are the sales managers. Those that do not receive commission (the service managers, club managers) are tasked so heavily that in a busy club not only do these non-commisionable employees not sign up new members, but they would be neglecting their delegated tasks if they were to do so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rixman84 (talk • contribs) 20:51, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

That wasn't properly sourced, but their commission structure and aggressive sales tactics are rather extreme and result in considerable numbers of real world disgruntled people (see member comlpaint below). It's probably sourceable, and it seems like a noteworthy aspect of the business. - Wikidemon (talk) 18:42, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Poor Customer Service

I am a member of 24 Hour fitness, The only reason that I am still a member is the lack of choices near my home. They do not mantain their equipment and if something is broken it could take a month or more to be repaired The club that i visit is in Friendswood Texas . I had called a couple of months ago to customer service and complained that it had been broken for around 6 weeks I was assured I would hear from the District manager and club manager and I never heard from either. I didnt worry to much the equipment was repaired.It broke again over a week ago and is still broken, When I complained to one of the managers I was told that their hands were tied all they can do is e-mail and call and if they are to persistent their Job would be in jeporday. This club has a very high rate of traffic so I know it generates enough revenues to mantain the club properly and still generate a nice profit. It smells like greed to me. If a Ballys or LA Fitness would open in Friendswood Texaas they would enjoy instant sucess. It never takes 24 hour fitness long to debit my account. (98.195.74.76 (talk) 01:43, 5 October 2009 (UTC))

I've added some citations regarding customer complaints to the BBB, which have also been addressed by 24 Hour Fitness. I think the article is beginning to take a shape other then a free advertisement for the company.--XB70Valyrie (talk) 05:55, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

club levels section

The club level section is hard to read. The items on each club aren't in the same order and some call the same thing two different things "Kid's Club" and "Kid's Babysitting Club". I thought about changing it to a chart, but then the subject tags would no longer exist, which doesn't seem like a huge issue to me. Theflavor (talk) 22:41, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Article in Need of Serious Editing

The "controversy and criticism" section should be edited, updated, sources, or deleted in its entirety. The class action lawsuit section refers (in the future tense) to suits that were supposed to go to trial years ago. What happened in those suits or are they still ongoing? The section on the Super Sport clubs is completely unsourced. And it's not at all clear why the fingerprint/ID section belongs under the "controvery and criticism" header. It's also not clear why that section is sufficiently noteworthy to be in the article at all. Finally, why is there a list of Los Angeles area clubs? I think I'm going to delete that section now. If someone wants to justify its inclusion and undo my edit, so be it. I don't know how to add all of the "this article needs improvement" banners; if someone else knows how to do that, please do so.
