Incorrect description of the race edit

The races start was not in torrential conditions, the race was dry enough for at least one driver (Wendlinger) to start on dry tires. While this was the wrong choice (he went to 20th on the first lap) it was certainly an indication that the choice was more borderline than 'torrential'.

Alesi's spin on lap 12 was nothing to do with Senna, Berger was trying to take Alesi, who didn't see him and turned into him, making what looked to be light contact, and spinning.

Alesi did not pass Capelli in the pits as Capelli did not even pit in this race. Alesi did pit on lap 33, and as such had massively better tires, and passed Capelli on the track on lap 45.

The description seems to imply that Alesi was right behind Senna pushing him for the position when Senna went off. Alesi was in fact 7 seconds behind Senna when Senna spun off the track, and Senna in fact had just lapped Capelli when he lost it and hit the wall...

However all of these things are only verifiable by video, no written source that I can find.

Alesi Jump Start edit

I was amazed to find out Alesi wasn't penalized at all during this race. He clearly jumped the start and it allowed him to get from 8th to 3rd by the first corner. Does anyone know if this was just completely overlooked by the FIA or did they deem it not a jump start? Berger was penalized a full minute in Canada in 1990 for jumping the start in a much less obvious maneuver so I find it really puzzling. Prost also got away with it in Japan in 1989 but it was almost anticipating the green light (jumped it but not nearly as much as Alesi did). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.229.152.48 (talk) 22:55, 9 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

GrandPrix.com credits Alesi's extraordinary start to the fact that the rear of his car was on a piece of track which was sheltered from the rain by a bridge. DH85868993 (talk) 03:13, 10 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
