The series documents the lives of several teenagers as they graduate high school and start summer break.[1] The show is set in Southern California and is sponsored by AT&T.

The series premiered on YouTube on June 16, 2013. The first episode currently has 1.5M views.[7]

The show was renewed for a second season which began on June 24, 2014.[8][9]

The show was renewed for a third season which premiered on June 21, 2015.[10]

In 2016 a fourth season was ordered which premiered on June 26, 2016.[11][12]

On January 10, 2017 it was announced via the official SummerBreak Instagram account that they are now casting for season 5.[13]

Season 5 premiered on June 25, 2017.[14]
