The Statue of Penelope is a marble statue which was discovered in Persepolis. The statue is kept at National Museum of Iran. During an joint exhibition between Iran and Italy in 2015, the statue was on display at Prada Foundation in Milan for around 4 months, and all the four statues were also on display at the National Museum of Iran between September and March 2016 in Tehran.[1] Life-Size Greek lady in the Severe Style was excavated by the Oriental Institute of Chicago in 1945. It lay scattered in three fragments in the ruins of the Persepolis Treasury.[2][3] It is surmised that the statue was brought to Persepolis by Xerxes after the conquest of Athens during the battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC.[4]
