Sher E Punjab T20 Cup (also known as Kühl Stylish Fans Sher-e-Punjab T20 Cup for sponsorship reasons) is a Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in State of Punjab in India, organised by Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) and first contested during the 2023 season. It is contested by six teams based in cities around the State's. The first winners of the tournament were BLV Blasters.[1][2]

History

In 2023, the Sher E Punjab T20 Cup was launched. The league was aimed to make up for the absence of high-profile matches in Punjab every year and to expose talented players from districts.[3][4]

The league shall feature top players of the state (across IPL and international). Inspired by the success of India Premier League (IPL), the league will have world class production quality and broadcast. It is the grand exemplar of cricketainment thrilling experience for local fans and audiences. The major aim of this league is to unearth new talents from the state.[5]

The Tournament Is Scheduled To Start On Friday, July 13, And Will Conclude On Sunday, 30 July. It Will Be The First Edition Of The Tournament.[6][7]

In the league's first seasons, teams chose players using a draft system, having previously had the opportunity to sign a limited number of players directly.

A Total Of 33 Matches Are Scheduled To Take Place In This Edition Of The Tournament At The Inderjit Singh Bindra Stadium, in Mohali.[8]

A Total Of Six Teams Are Going To Participate In The Tournament. These Five Teams Are: Hampton Falcons,.[9]

In the final, BLV Blasters defeated Agri Kings Knights by 7 wickets to win the inaugural title.[10]

Tournament structure

Six city-based teams will compete during the school summer holidays. There will be 28 matches in the league stage of the tournament, with the top four teams qualifying for the semi-final stage. The winners of both the semi-final matches will be the finalists.
