Samuel Saunders (1857–1943) was a New Zealand journalist and newspaper editor.[1][2]

Biography edit
Saunders was born in Nelson, New Zealand in 1857 to Rhoda Saunders (née Flower) and Alfred Saunders.[1] His uncle was William Saunders and his sister was Sarah Page.[2][3] In 1880 he married Helen Johnston who was a granddaughter of William Cargill.[4][2][5]
He was editor of the Lyttelton Times from 1891 to 1914.[4]
Saunders died in Eastbourne, New Zealand in 1943, aged 86.[5][4]
