This film was a remake of the Tamil blockbuster Walter Vetrivel, starring Sathyaraj. The Hindi dubbed version is titled Azaad Desh Ka Andhaa Kanoon. Also, it was remade in Hindi as Khuddar, starring Govinda and Karishma Kapoor. The film also had a Malayalam-language dubbed version titled as Super Hero S. P. Parasuram. It is one of the last works of Sridevi in Telugu cinema.
Parasuram (Chiranjeevi) is a police official who is very rash and is willing to arrest his own family for the sake of the law. His brother (Harish Kumar) is caught in a blue film gang, and Rani (Sridevi), a common thief, almost becomes a victim, but manages to escape. Because she is a witness, she is later assaulted and becomes blind. How Parasuram protects her and how the villains try to take revenge on him form the crux of the story.
