Rubén González (Uruguayan footballer)

Ruben Adán González Acosta (born 17 July 1939) is a former Uruguayan football defender[1] who played for Uruguay in the 1962 FIFA World Cup.[2] He also played for Club Nacional de Football.[3]

International Career edit

His first cap with Uruguay was on 2 May 1959 for a friendly game against Paraguay national football team.[4]

Several months later, in December, he was selected in Uruguay’s squad for the 1959 South American Championship in Ecuador, playing 4 games as Uruguay won the competition.[5]

González was also in Uruguay’s squad for the 1962 FIFA World Cup,[6] but was an unused substitute for Uruguay’s 3 games against Colombia,[7] Yugoslavia,[8] and USSR.[9]

His 11th and last cap was on 15 August 1962 for a friendly game against Argentina.[10]
