Robert E. Knowling Jr., is an American business executive known for his leadership roles in the telecommunications and technology sectors.[1][2]

Early life and education edit

Knowling holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Wabash College (1976) and a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.[3][1][4][5]

Career edit

Knowling served as the Chief Executive Officer of Covad Communications from 1998 to 2000.[6][7][8] He later held executive positions at SimDesk Technologies and Telwares.[6][9]

He served as CEO of the New York City Leadership Academy, a non-profit dedicated to developing principals in the New York City public school system.[9][10][11][12]

Knowling sat on the boards for Roper Technologies, Convergys Corporation, Heidrick & Struggles and Citrix Systems.[13][14][15][16]

Currently, he chairs Eagles Landing Partners (ELP), a consultancy specializing in strategy, organizational transformations, and business re-engineering.[17][3][5][18]

In 1999, Knowling received the Reginald Lewis Trailblazers Award, from the Wall Street Project for promoting diversity and inclusion in tech, presented by President Bill Clinton and Reverend Jesse Jackson.[19][20]

Knowling is married to Angela Denise Knowling, and they have four children.[4]
