Biography

In 1979, Rafika Ben Chaouacha-Chekir earned her MSc in Natural Sciences from the Normal Higher School of Tunis.[1] Then, she pursued her doctoral studies at the University of Paris and obtained her PhD in Biological Sciences in 1989.[1]

Career

Rafika Ben Chaouacha-Chekir is a Full Professor in Biology, Animal and Human Ecophysiology, Neurosciences, Pathophysiology & Biomedical Applications at the Higher Institute of Biotechnology Sidi Thabet, University of Manouba, Tunisia.[citation needed] She was also the Director of the Higher Institute of Biotechnology of Sidi Thabet (ISBST).[2] Besides, she is the supervisor of several completed PhD research projects.[1]

Academic activities

Rafika Ben Chaouacha-Chekir is the Director of the Research Laboratory in physiopathology, alimentation and biomolecules LR17ES03.[1][3] She is also a Member of the National Think Tank Committee on Biotechnology educational programs at the Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.[1]

In May 2023, she contributed to and participated in the ArtiSaneFood project[4] as she also established partnerships with Tunisian companies.[1]

She has various published works in recognized journals in her field.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16]

Awards

In 2021, Rafika Ben Chaouacha-Chekir and Rym Chaouachi of the Physiopathology, Nutrition and Bio-molecules Research Laboratory were awarded at the ceremony for the 4th National Innovation Contest of the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation (APII).[17][18]
