Career

edit

Bakkevig played most of his junior hockey in Norway, first appearing for Furuset as a 14-year old. In 2019, he moved over to the Vålerenga system and spent the next several years rising from the U-16 team to the U-20 club. In 2022, having caught the attention of several scouts, Bakkevig joined the Malmö Redhawks system and appeared in 2 games with the parent club the same year. For his second year with the organization, he more than doubled his point total and led the junior Redhawks with 25 goals.

During the two seasons at Malmö, Bakkevig was a member of the Norway national junior team. He heled the club earn a promotion to the top division in 2024, their first appearance since 1991. Unfortunately, Norway went winless in the tournament and was relegated back to Division I.
